Rich Mullins

So, you thought that Catholic Music is all drab, dreary and boring? Well "Creed" written by Rich Mullins, who was preparing for conversion to the Catholic faith before his untimely death in 1997, is proof of that Catholic inspired music does not have to put you to sleep. Mullins' music was steeped in Catholicism, and this song, Creed is just one of the defining songs of his coming at peace with his conversion.

Rich Mullins saw his music as a means to pay his bills. He spent the last years of his life on a Navajo reservation teaching music to children. Father McGuinness had been assisting Mullins in his investigation of the Catholic faith.

Rich Mullins also wrote the veritable anthem of the contemporary Christian music circles, Awesome God and

Sometimes by Step (or Step by Step). Mulinns' album Songs contains  these songs, which are arguably some of the most moving and popular Christian music today. I know, I know. Christian Music is not necessarily Catholic Music. But now we know Rich Mullins was Catholic before he made his first communion.
