Prayer To Saint Michael Archangel

Prayer is offered to Michael Archangel as the special patron of the sick, mariners, police, paratroopers and grocers.

The name Michael is a variation of Micah, which in Hebrew means “Who is like God.”

History:
Michael Archangel is one of the three angels mentioned by name in Scriptures.

He is one of seven archangels and sometimes referred to as the Prince of the Seraphim.

Saint Michael, mentioned 4 times in Scripture is one of the principal angels.

His name was the war-cry of the good angels in the battle fought in heaven against the enemy and his followers.

In Catholic tradition and liturgy Saint Michael is the protector of the Church.

Based on several Scriptural references to St. Michael Archangel, Christian Tradition gives Saint Michael Archangel four offices:

1. To fight against Satan
2. To rescue the souls of the faithful from the enemy, especially at the hour of death
3. To be the champion of God’s people
4. To call away from earth and bring men’s souls to judgment

St. Michael Archangel
(Feast–September 29)

GLORIOUS St. Michael,
Guardian and Defender
Of the Church of Jesus Christ,
Come to the assistance of the Church,
Against which the powers
Of hell are unchained.

Guard with special care
Her august head, the Pope,
And obtain that for him and for us
The hour of triumph
May speedily arrive.

O glorious St. Michael,
Watch over us during life,
Defend us
Against the assaults of the demon,
And assist us
Especially at the hour of death.

Obtain for us
A favorable judgment
And the happiness
Of beholding God face to face
For all eternity.

Amen.

Glorious St. Michael,
Intercede for me with God
In all my necessities, especially

(name the request),

And obtain for me
A favorable outcome
In the matter now requested of you.

O glorious Prince
Of the heavenly host,
And victor over rebellious spirits,
Be mindful of me
Who is so weak and sinful
And yet so prone
To pride and ambition.

Lend me, I pray,
Your powerful aid
In every temptation and difficulty,
And above all
Do not forsake me
In my last struggle
With the powers of evil.

Amen.
